Vivien Shelburn (Russell) Howard

Vivien Russell Howard passed away at Beacon Place on July 1,2023 at the age of 70.

Vivien is predeceased by her father, Rees Gillespie Russell; mother, Ava Burke Russell; and brother, Rees Russell.

Vivien is survived by her loving Husband of 27 years, Tim Howard. They were married in Greensboro, NC on May 4,1996.

Vivien is lovingly remembered by her sister and brother-in-law, Ava and Ray Walker of Kingsport, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Retha Russell of Charlotte, NC; nieces, Allison and Diane; and nephew, R.G. Russell of Rock Hill, SC.

Vivien was born in Abingdon, VA in 1952. SHE graduated from Virginia High School in 1970 and attended Sullins College in Bristol Virginia. She went on to a career in Human Resources and finished her working career at Lees McRae College.

Vivien enjoyed hiking in the North Carolina mountains, Appalachian State football and spending time with her friends on Beech Mountain. She especially enjoyed her time working at Lees McRae College.

Vivien’s, celebration of life will be held at Banner Elk Presbyterian at 11:00am on August 19th 2023 with Reverend Feild Russell officiating. Interment to follow at the Banner Elk Presbyterian columbarium. A reception/wake will take place in the Banner Elk Presbyterian fellowship Hall following the service.
