John Wayne Helton

John Wayne Helton, also known as Big John, passed away on October 12, 2023, at the age of 61 in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born on April 4, 1962, in Cleveland, OH. Big John had a larger-than-life personality and left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Big John was a selfless and kind-hearted man, who was always smiling and joking. He was a father figure to many and cherished his role in their lives. One of his greatest joys was cheering on the Lowder race team, the Cowboys, and his beloved Buckeyes. Big John was a dedicated fan of Ohio State and bled scarlet and gray. He had a deep love for his family and friends, and his generous spirit touched the lives of all those around him.

Big John leaves behind his wife Gina, son Jonathan Helton (Amanda), daughter Shannette Galloway (Emery), daughter Allison Helton, daughter Sara baker (Charlie) and son Daniel Setzer (Katie). Grandchildren, Kolby Galloway, Kelsey Galloway, Kadie Galloway, Haylee Helton, Jathen Helton, Kysen Helton, Kirra Mishoe, Abel Johnson, Lil Charlie Baker, Gerald Baker and Waylon Baker. He also leaves behind two bonus sons Michael Hooker and Nathan Hayes; siblings and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of Big John's life will be held on November 11th at 4:00 PM at Creekside Park in Archdale, NC. Family, friends, and all who knew him are invited to join in honoring his memory.
