Barbara Harper Dixon, “Ms. Bob,” went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of June 23, 2022, at AMOREM Hospice, Lenoir, NC.
Barbara was the youngest daughter/child of the late Richard Scott and Lucy Mae Norwood-Scott, both of Lenoir, NC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 husbands, Haywood Dixon, Jr. and Harris Easley Harper; maternal grandparents, Henry Turner Norwood and Polly Norwood; 4 siblings, Betty Jean Harbison, Everette Scott, Marjorie Suddreth, and Peggy Scott; and 2 children, Jeffrey Harper and Petrenella Harper.
Those left to cherish her memory include 3 children, Ronald Keith Harper, Cheryl G. Tillman, and Chiquita Harper; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Barbara was a member of New Covenant United Methodist Church under the leadership of Rev. Myers Dahn.
She loved the Lord, her family, and her community.
Her passion was cooking and was known in several counties in NC, SC, and GA for her down home soul food cooking.
A celebration of her life will be Saturday, July 2, 2022, 1:00 pm, at New Covenant United Methodist Church. The family will visit from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
